Booking a Consultation

How to Book an Online Doctor Consultation

Find the right specialist, pay securely, and consult from anywhere — in six simple steps.

1

Search for a specialty or describe your symptoms

From the GeraClinic homepage, you can search by medical specialty (e.g. "cardiologist", "dermatologist", "GP"), by condition (e.g. "high blood pressure", "eczema"), or by describing your symptoms in plain language. The AI symptom checker will suggest the most relevant specialties if you are not sure which doctor you need.

Medical emergency? Do not use GeraClinic — call your local emergency services immediately.

2

Browse available doctors

You will see a list of verified doctors. Use filters to narrow by specialty, spoken language, star rating, earliest available slot, and consultation fee. Every doctor's profile shows their qualifications, medical school, years of experience, and verified reviews from real patients. Look for the "Board Certified" or "License Verified" badge.

3

Select a doctor and available time slot

Click on a doctor to view their full profile — including consultation format (video, audio, or text-only), typical consultation length, and their consultation fee. Select a date and time from their availability calendar. All times are shown in your local timezone. If no current slots work, you can enable notifications for when new slots open.

4

Pay for your consultation

Consultations can be paid per session (standard fee set by each doctor) or using a GeraClinic Health Pass subscription, which covers a set number of consultations per month at a lower per-session cost. Payment is processed securely at booking. Accepted methods include card, GeraCash wallet, and local payment options depending on your country.

5

Join your video call at the appointed time

You will receive a reminder 30 minutes before your appointment. At the scheduled time, go to My Appointments in your dashboard and tap "Join Consultation". The video call opens in your browser — no download required. Make sure your camera and microphone are working beforehand. The doctor will join within 2 minutes of the start time.

Tip: Test your camera and microphone at least 5 minutes before the consultation. Go to your device settings and ensure your browser has permission to access both.

6

Receive your written summary and any prescriptions

After the consultation ends, the doctor will write up their notes and send you a consultation summary — typically within 1 hour. This includes: their findings, diagnoses, recommended treatments, any prescriptions issued, and follow-up instructions. All of this is stored in your GeraClinic health records and can be shared with other doctors.

Cancellation policy

You can cancel or reschedule from My Appointments in your dashboard. Refunds depend on how far in advance you cancel:

Frequently asked questions

What equipment do I need for a video consultation?
A device with a camera and microphone — a smartphone, tablet, or laptop all work. You need a stable internet connection. No downloads or apps are required; the consultation runs entirely in your web browser.
Can I consult a doctor in my own language?
Yes. Use the "Language" filter when browsing doctors to find one who speaks your language. GeraClinic has doctors who speak 40+ languages. If your language is not available, you can request a medically trained interpreter to join the call.
What if the doctor is late?
Doctors are expected to join within 5 minutes of the appointment start time. If they are running late, you will receive a message. If they have not joined within 15 minutes, you can cancel for a full refund or reschedule at no extra charge.
Can I get a sick note or medical certificate from a GeraClinic consultation?
Yes. If clinically appropriate, your doctor can issue a digital sick note or medical certificate after your consultation. These are signed with the doctor's digital credentials and are accepted by most employers and institutions. Country-specific rules apply — ask your doctor during the consultation.
Is a GeraClinic consultation suitable for emergencies?
No. GeraClinic is for non-emergency medical consultations. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call your local emergency services immediately. GeraClinic doctors are trained to triage and will direct you to emergency care if your symptoms require it.
How do I share my previous test results with the doctor?
Before or during your consultation, you can upload documents (PDF, JPG, PNG) from the appointment page. These are shared only with the doctor you are consulting. Alternatively, if you have had previous GeraClinic consultations, your records are accessible to the doctor if you grant permission.
